There are many times were individuals run into difficulty and although they may want to meet their debt obligations they simply are not able to do so. They are looking for a fresh start and one of the ways of doing this is by going through either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

In a Chapter 7 bankruptcy most often several of the debts are discharged whereas in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy payment plans are constructed that the debtor is able to handle without a great deal of pressure.

Another reason individuals file for bankruptcy is because they have become in such a financial state that they are at risk of losing their home or having their vehicle repossessed. This has put them in a situation where they have no other choice but to go to the bankruptcy courts with the hope that the foreclosure will be stopped until the bankruptcy has been structured.

There are some individuals that have been very astute at keeping themselves debt free but have run into medical emergencies that have hit them with horrendous medical bills that they are just not able to pay. Then there are others who have managed their money quite well and their debt ratio, however end up losing their job and are not able to keep up with their payments.

Some individuals have it just becomes so overwhelmed with the harassment from the creditors that they need a way out and bankruptcy is their option. In some cases utilities are going to be shut off and this creates a devastating situation for the individual and they will use this as their reasons for filing for bankruptcy.

These are just a few of the common reasons why individuals will finally resort to a bankruptcy and use this as their form of debt relief.
